So recently I've become interested in the idea that America is a continuation of the Roman empire and ideals. Not as a conspiracy or even intentionally, I just think the parallels are hard to avoid especially if you study Roman history. Recently I've read Hemogny or Survival and Failed Statea by Noam Chomsky and was looking for something on par with that man.

I don't believe the USA has a direct correlation to the Roman empire, it's just another one on the way out.

Question: if this idea of the USA could be said to mirror the history of Rome, who is the American Octavian? The American Mark Anthony? Or hell, the American Caesar?

It's worth digging into Gore Vidal's work to explore this parallel.
