Now I'm thinking about birth
And what it all means
Oh my god
I feel so obscene

A stupid choice I make
A single choice
Affects my life forever
What a mistake

I take a breath now
And let it all sink in
What have I done?
What will he say?

The choice we made
The pain I face
I'm not ready for this
I'll never be ready for this

But its all part of life
This is my life now,
Deciding the survival of another
I'm not ready for this

I wish I were ready
I wouldn't make a good mom
Not now, not the person I am
And I know I'm still not ready...

So I cry for a life..
A life that never was,
A life that may have been,
A life that never will be.

Had I not watched Coronation Street, I would have enjoyed reading this poem more for its unfamiliar perspective and emotional/thinking development, but now I cant help but think of Carla hehe...
Looking forward to reading more of your poetry :)

I feel like this poem will carry more emotional and artistic weight if the discovery is handled differently, rather than "I thought about life, and all that it meant" I think you should show us the moment that she sees birth for what it really is. Surely there was some memory, or something in the environment, or something that provoked the realization. If you are able to establish this discovery in a truthful, intriguing way, then this poem might be more organic to real life. Rather than a platform to say something you want to say.
