When I am sat by the sea
on a stripey deck chair
in a salty breeze
that tastes when you lick your lips
and the sea is brown through
a muddy geology,
I like to hold my forefinger
a foot from my face
swiping the ocean
painting it blue
like picture books from
once upon a time
that, dampened with a wet brush
burst into an impressionistic
water colour.
Happy with this I bury my toes
in sun warmed sand
and inhale the nostalgia
of a seafood stand
a storm offshore
and the innocent squeal
of laughter.
