Need help regarding "linguistic devices"

What are linguistic devices?

I am not finding a book, a web link, research articles. . . nothing! Are these not defined properly? The best I have found on the web are the following:

Dramatic or emotive language
Imperatives
Alliteration
Rhetorical questions
Lists
Colloquial language

Are there others? Are these the ones? Can I have a link when I can read about these in detail? Also at a few places I have seen linguistic devices and literary devices used interchangeably at a few places. This should be wrong. Is it?

Those are rhetorical devices. Try the wikipedia page on Rhetorical Devices, it is actually quite good.
