The guy in 11D hung himself,
the tall guy with the schnauzer,
looked like Tommy Tune

He was always alone
I guess you can't blame him

He was a string theorist,
whether or not he was home
depended entirely upon
a knock at the door

I hope he died dancing,
like a marionette

Ha! A joke that can only be appreciated by a physicist, or a cat named Schrodinger.

I enjoyed this. I didn't pick up on the Schrodinger cat reference that 108 fountains did, but I think I see it now. The string theorist dancing like a marionette was nice.

That's a short poem to squeeze so much word play, intelligence and sadness into, the words danced like the Marionette and it was a great read.

I didn't get the references in the good portion of the poem, until I got to the end and the 2 killer lines. Took my breath away. Kudos.

Enjoyed this very much, hack! I didn't know Schrödinger and string theory were related (barely know what strong theory is, to be honest), but the reference hit home at once. You did a good job with (apparently) little effort, that's what I appreciated most. You should try the Minimalist Poetry Contest thread (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?50408-Minimalist-Poetry-Contest) one of these days (meaning I'd be happy to see you join in) :-)

The connection between quantum mechanics(the Schrodinger paradox)
and string theory is problematic.
The connection between loneliness and a knock at the door is pretty well established.
