The person who wrote the summary of the play on this page for Shakespeare's King John I has skewed history a tad.<br>Richard Coeur de Lion and Geoffrey Platagenet Duke of Brittany or Bretagne are two different people, in fact they are brothers.<br>Geoffrey is the husband of Constance and the father of Arthur. Had Richard been father to Arthur Elinor would have supported him as she is devoutly supportive of Richard which is why she accepts Phillip the Bastard.<br>Geoffrey was the brother between Richard and John, that's why his son lays claim to the crown over John as his line is more direct.<br>Thank you.<br>Jack - Jack Diddly Squat that is.
