A portrait of misery
lurks in the alleyway
No graffitti message to the world
along the dank walls.
What bricks are left,
crumble under the weight
of living.
A leg once the ladder of
the future,
is now broken and strewn
across bags of garbage.
Memories fester in an oxo box
with yesterday's news.
There is no place like home.
Miles from any painted reality.

Hi Dleta
I didn't know why you give your poem a title black dog!
Do you resemble the portrait of misery as a black dog?
No graffiti message to the world! I like this

Honestly I just can't write at the moment. I was going to delete it but thought my record should be an accurate reflection.

The Black Dog Institute is an organisation which deals with mental health issues, primarily depression.

It's probably better than you think, Delta. It lacks cohesion but some individual elements work well, particularly the last two lines. As always, keep writing!
