I unroll my tongue
To duel with the words
Of profound silence.
I speak of the coldness
Of still walls
And dull painted ceilings.
I hide in the dark,
In the dim light,
Under the glares
To stalk tempting shadows.
I saw you when you stood
By the curb
To wave at passersby.
I watched you on stage
Coiling around the pole
For malicious claps.
I observed your oiled hands
When you played with skin,
Sticky hair,
And flaccid bones.
I can only exist
In four cycles—
Next season will be my last.
My eyes cannot warm my body,
Cannot calm my longing,
Nor can they talk to you.
Tiktiktiktiktiktiktiki!
I shall not see you anymore,
Should I fail again
In my final reincarnation.
To duel with the words
Of profound silence.
I speak of the coldness
Of still walls
And dull painted ceilings.
I hide in the dark,
In the dim light,
Under the glares
To stalk tempting shadows.
I saw you when you stood
