The mute angel arrived “as” she struggled on her bed;
I kissed her graying lips, “I” helped her breathe her last.
I whispered my sobs, I “lay” beside her cold, paling arm;
I felt her quiet rue for “dying” so young, so quick, so soon.

I never thought the “intruder” would take my heart away,
Leaving my weak arms ”in” sorrow, my embrace in gloom.
I cursed all the divine, “the” ancient muses of grief and woe
For our love was now “dust” on my hands digging her grave.
