Now that we have read the first two in the trilogy, let's read the last one as well!
Hoping for a January-27th start if it suits everyone as well!

I am almost done with this and, unfortunately, I might be done with Atwood as well! I was no-so-secretly hoping that after TYOTF, this one might liven up, pick up in style and narrative but just another juvenile, half-baked attempt to preach and scare, riddled with coincidences and clichés.
I am very disappointed.

I read this recently, and found it was quite poor also. I like Margaret Atwood, her interviews are always quite good, but her writing has taken a serious nosedive since The Blind Assassin. This Oryx and Crake trilogy got progressively worse with each volume. Her recent writing lacks depth and layers in my opinion, and it seems like the author doesn't really put herself out there much, doesn't offer anything of herself in her work. I found it hard not to feel apathetic towards it, which I often find much worse than feeling ire towards a book.

I'm only 37% in :( and I agree with you both. To me it shows that a good writer can become 'over-experienced' - the tone is blasé, it is slick, superficial and cliché ridden. So far nothing fresh or exciting. Can't wait to finish and get started on Vicar of Wakefield.
