Seemed to be the likely reading. Presumably, writing like he does, hack wants to hear this kind of line from someone, so fine:

your poetry is too smart for Jack of Hearts, who is not in the club and doesn't understand.

Why there's a reference to Gay Talese in here is beyond yours truly. And why is religion mentioned, who's praying? And other things.

Whatever. Would rather have hack than not have hack, and would rather have read this than not have read this. Stinker.

Jack is the stinker here. He is rarely wrong. I didn't fully understand this either of care that I didn't fully understand it. I didn't understand by the end of the title. I suspect I could understand more with uncle google and I also suspect I may not. But good is good.
