One Reason that I Prefer Books/Novels to Movies

One thing that I like about books/novels is that you will know what is going on inside the characters' minds. For me, this makes more invested in the story and more satisfied after I'm done with the book. It also helps me better understand how other people think.

You don't really get that with movies.

How do you know what is going on in a character's mind in a novel? Usually this takes the form of an omnicient narrator... perhaps the main character himself/herself. And you have never seen such a narrator used in film?

when you take up a novel in your hands, its not just a book you are holding, its a whole new,different world with all its characters and stories about them. Hence i prefer reading novels.

This is why I especially like first person narratives. I love reading about the emotions the character is going through.

I think novels are just that words and meanings in paper.
in movies it is more the looks the sounds the general picture the lighting and of course the acting that is mostly impressive.
you can take a boring book story and make it look a billion dollar if you have all of the above.
a story can come out of its shell in a movie but never the other way.

Most movies come from a book. With the movie you are watching the director's interpretation of the book. When you read a book your mind and imagination becomes the director. The beauty of that is, you are not subject to budget restrictions or special effects limitations. So in summation I can say I enjoy a good movie. However, I really love a good book.
