On a Friday January 7th 1466, Da Vinci , it seems, was caught up in a rather nasty flood.The 14 year old boy witnessed men, women, ox and cart being carried away by the raging Arno river. Could this have caused PSTD in the boy, resulting in his later artistic treatment of hair as cascading rivers? Could such trauma have propelled Da Vinci to seek innumerable methods to contain water, which he described as "the veins of cities"?
