With so much on my plate
there wasn't an empty space for fufilling conversation.

Out the door I was carrying so much
that my phone fell to the floor and shattered
into the 101 calls I was going to miss
and would have to tack onto the tally of returns.

At the bustop, everyone had their ipads, iphones, ipods
and I had my "i"self,
with whom I was too busy with other people's important things
to pay attention to.

Brief "conversation" with my co-worker:
me:"I thinking of learning Arabic, Spanish, or Chinese online!
Oh gosh, I'm out of time, can we talk later?"
reply: "yeah, I'd love to, when are you available?"
me: "I'm not sure, ill let you know."

Another e-mail from Grandma. If I open it...I will have to reply.

After the end of the day
I could've decided to watch TV,
but I had spent most the day already staring at a monitor
and listening to the nonstop white noise of electronics .

So, instead I gracelessly fell to the couch
held my lover's hand and looked into his weary eyes,
we were both left speechless and too tired to listen anyway.

Nice last stanza showing how one doesn't need verbal communication. I can see how someone who is used to having their phone would feel their life disrupted if it broke. The third stanza about the i self was interesting as well.
