R.I.P. Peter O'Toole and Joan Fontaine

Two of the greats gone in one day.

I know Peter O'Toole is mostly famous for "Lawrence of Arabia" but I've never seen that one, although I would like to. My favorite movie that I've seen him in is "The Stunt Man," which I love. I need to watch that one again sometime.

Joan Fontaine. "Rebecca," "Suspicion," "Jane Eyre." Quite a trifecta.

Much as I liked O'Toole's Lawrence, for me he will always King Henry II in The Lion in Winter. What a great actor.

As for Joan Fontaine, I haven't seen her in much - but I was very taken with her performance in Rebecca.

You may enjoy O'Toole in Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell where he does a rather lovely comic turn. It's a filmed stage performance from The Old Vic and shows that O'Toole was far more than an action hero.

Who could forget him in What's New, Pussycat? Oh, and all that other stuff as well....
