Ever the tear falls from my skin

My heart expounds on the waves

The night they swept you away

And sent you to a rose covered grave

There I sleep beside you in my dream

To lay inside with you in my head

Free to go where I once dread

The abyss where others declare you are dead

But you are alive with me every waking hour

The tears arrive with your presence on cue

And the reddest rose that perishes on the bed of morning dew

Its fallen petals die just to be with you.

I had to reread this a few times to fully appreciate the intertwining aspects of waking, sleeping, dreaming and death. The emotion kept me motivated to unravel the tight weave. The physical effects the speaker endures pulls everything together beautifully in your strong ending "And the reddest rose that perishes on the bed of morning dew, Its fallen petals die just to be with you. " beautiful

I love this...because they which we have loved never truly die. And always the ghosts of memory bring to our eyes tears...whether in joy filled remembrance or sorrow for their departure.

There I sleep beside you in my dream

To lay inside with you in my head

Free to go where I once dread

The abyss where others declare you are dead

But you are alive with me every waking hour "

best part of the poem...we all fear death..though it is conquered by the legacy of the ones who left before. And because of that..they never die.
