Wanting to write some fiction, curious about rules.

I wrote a few stories a few years back on the battle.net off-topic forums that were generally well received. I wrote several, and they weren't too dirty or violent style stories at all, but in a medieval story there was some violence with bows and swords and a falling gate, along with a child offering flowers to an evil army getting killed explicitly...also I did a story there about being a combat jet pilot with the air force special forces that included a male pilot that was in the cockpit riding with a female, and the pilot was fighting and the girl had no idea. If these kind of stories aren't cool here that's ok, maybe refer me somewhere else, but they're totally artistic and not meant to be deviant. I also did a story about a fast tank set in Panama, along with said tank shooting people and tanks, and another Panama-war story about a medical area getting overrun and everyone who isn't the main character, including the female romantic interest, dies to war violence with guns.

So I'd love to rewrite some of these or do some new ones, and that $300 contest looks tempting since I'd love to make money writing short (or longer) stories...a bit out of practice, so I figured I'd find a fiction forum and start practicing and get some feedback.

Also are there ways to make more than $300 writing for sites? What kind of cash options are there if I am or get to be good at writing?

PS - I need a good pen name. Possibly Sam Six, although recommendations are awesome. Sam 221766 is also an option, although the number last name seems kind of fake...

I'm also probably going to set up a wordpress.com free blog and post my stories there too. I like wordpress because they don't censor things.
