I recommend 1984 to any reader who is interested in reading a novel and learning life lessons that will carry on with them for the rest of their lives. 1984 has changed my outlook on government and on life in general. In 1984, we are taught about the propaganda of the government and how our minds are manipulated without us even noticing. In 1984, the citizens are required to live by set laws where they lived without any physical privacy or even any mental privacy. At times all of their worst thoughts were used against them. This teaches us as the readers the aspect of life where you must think for yourself and make your own decisions. We must not let our minds be manipulated so that we are used by any other person. 1984 has helped me to understand that being treated like a statistic is useless once you are gone. If we can not think for ourselves and live the way we want to live, the feeling of losing one another and the simple value of life is diminished. We can not come close to one another and create any sort of feelings without being able to differentiate and decide who the good people are from the bad. There are many ways that 1984 can be viewed, and I saw it as an effective piece of literature.
