As a high school student I don't think we should read this book in a 10th grade class because it is hard to keep up with. It got complicated to comprehend and I felt I was behind even though I wasn't. I had a hard time understanding how the book was supposed to somewhat predict how the future lived will be, and that the government will be that much in control. If this book is read in high school I think it should be read in a senior class or in an English majors college class.

I gather 10th graders are fifteen to sixteen-year-olds. Maybe 1984 is a bit advanced. In England Animal Farm is often a set book for that age, but 1984 does not seem to be taught much at all in English schools, even to seventeen to eighteen-year-olds. Animal Farm is a much easier book to read than 1984.
