View Full Version : Is Death an Inconvenience?

What’s your bucket list before the inconvenience of popping your clogs? At the current juncture, mine comprises:
1. A non-Platonic liaison with a Brazilian carnival dancer.
2. A cold beer in a bar overlooking the Himalayas.
3. Having my last post-dated cheque to the undertaker bounce.
4. Rebuilding Hadrian’s Wall.
5. Being buried at sea in a gold coffin, to confute the theory that you can’t take it with you.
6. Outliving Mick Jagger.
7. Sponsoring a five star workman’s café in Bethnal Green.
8. Consuming a Wiener Snitzel, ten steins of dunkel German beer and falling asleep in the cleavage of a buxom Fraulein during the Munich Beer Festival..

Love it!

I see so many idiots making bucket lists, but yours is a Bacchanalian delight of sensual treats and I admire it completely.

The only disappointment is you not listing how you want to go, but I'm guessing possibly after a non-stop 48 hours of #1?

It might be more of an inconvenience to those left behind. For instance, they've got to go out and buy a plastic bag big enough to stuff me in. Then drag it out to the curb before the trashmen's truck arrives.

I like Woody's line. It's not that he's afraid of death, he says--"I just don't want to be there when it happens."

I have nothing against eternal nothingness, but how does one dress for it?

I just told you--an extra-large Hefty Bag.

Yah, I've never made a bucket list; it's kind of like making New Year's Resolutions. But if I was going to make a list, there's just one thing on it-I want to travel! Would anybody care to put me up while I fulfill my fantasies of travel? :D

Do undertakers take post-dated cheques? Why waste time dealing with undertakers? When the smell gets bad enough your neighbours will phone the authorities.

4. Rebuilding Hadrian’s Wall.

Being a mongrel, can I lead the patrol along the top? I'd be happy to shoot miscreants trying to cross in either direction :)

5. Being buried at sea in a gold coffin, to confute the theory that you can’t take it with you.

Yes, but don't the authorities give it to the family if there is any, who then have to pay for the funeral?

I don't want people to spend too much on my funeral, I won't be there to see it (well, I may be paying a hovering visit), but everyone knows that no-one really means it anyway, what they say... And all the money spent on an oak coffin with brass handles just to put in the ground? Just put me in a pine box and be done with it. Spend the money on something to remember me by, not on wood for the bugs or marble for on top of me. Or I'll come and haunt you :D.

I don't think I'm old enough to have made a bucket list, maybe I should make one.

I see the Co-op offers cardboard coffins in white or brown.

get lost
tan
let it all happen while I still can
practice practice
get lost at least a gazillion more times
get mysterious old wizard to be mentor
grow
understand winter happens
fall through ice
get lost again

for the record I have always wanted to die running off a cliff.

"Things are both trivial than they ever were, and more important than they ever were, and the difference between the trivial and the important doesn’t seem to matter. But the nowness of everything is absolutely wonderous."

Lol. Why not float with a dolphin inside that gold coffin at sea?

That has all the ingredients of a Frederick Forsyth thriller.
No wonder you hide behind the " nom de plume" of Delta40.

I can see putting that on my bucket list as well as not to mess up with the relationships I find myself in.

That was stupendous. Personal favorite was rebuilding Hadrian's Wall. As for the Brazilian, she doesn't have to be a carnival dancer. ;-)

Antonines Wall as well.
Can't have them coming south after independence, stealing the cattle and ravishing the women (or is it the other way round?)
