Party Hate

If Winston hates the party so much, why doesn't he just leave his job and become part of the prole section? Or is that against some kind of law? :willy_nilly::seeya:

I don't suppose the party would let him. Anyway, he'd have nowhere to live and no way of earning any money. Besides, he may be a bit institutionalised despite his disaffectedness.

Plus, it isn't as easy as that. A Party member has no ability opt-out and would be tracked down if he tried to just walk away.
