Hipporcrates Oath is certainly very indicative of how serious the concept of Medecine was. to swear for your life can be in itself unmedecinal one can imagine the stress one is put under.
anyways back melancholia although I had looked it up/googled it, the word fills me with a certain melange of thinking it is half romance and half torment. it is as though the root of it is that it is feelings are not able to pronounce themselves and therefore fills a person with an empty/lack of them. it is almost inebriating without the alcohol kind of thing.
