The lion that loves dogs
Short story for children
One day a brave lion went to visit his sister and in the middle of the way near the big tree, which appears from a distant place, he met a small puppy was straying from its parents.
The lion said with himself why I do not take this puppy to my sister as a present since she had not a child then she will bring it up until can help her in hunting.
The lioness felt happy when she received this strange present and gradually she began teaching the puppy of dogs the lion's nature.
The puppy at its first days turned sad about his mother feeling as if it was captive between lions, but systematically began into adapting itself to the new lifestyle of eating meats only.
Growing up day after day, the puppy adapted itself in hunting alone without the lioness helping.
In the first day, the puppy picked a small hen and returned happily to the lioness.
The lioness did not reproach the puppy but she did encourage it for hunting more.
In the second day, the puppy attacked three rabbits and the puppy thinking it is better portion than the first day.
The lioness smiled to the puppy and showed it her satisfaction apparently, saying to the puppy:
Oh! You are cleaver and astonishing.
On the third day, the puppy woke up early and stole itself from the lioness lair secretly and after three hours of fast running, it reached its family and started to tell them the story. The dogs blamed the puppy for its going for lions' lairs telling it the lions are their foes and they do not respect the poor animals like dogs, they consider themselves the kings of the forests.
Moreover, they advise the puppy to be aware from their cheating and betraying.
The adult puppy says with itself why the lions cheat me; they are strong enough, and if they want to kill any animal, they do not need to alarm it.
Why do they adopt me? Why do they teach me the hunting?
The adult puppy becomes satisfied that the lioness is now his new mother and the lions in general are his new family.
On the next day, the puppy pretended as it was sleeping and when it saw the dogs were totally drowned in sleeping; the puppy leaped on its feet and started running away.
When the puppy reached the lion's homeland, the lioness blamed the puppy telling it not to repeat this mistake again, but the puppy said that its visiting for family is only to ensure them that it is still alive.
Moreover, the adult puppy told the lioness that the dogs asking if they could come to your lairs and would like to negotiate with you if they could conclude an agreement with you.
The lioness kept silent and ordered the puppy to go with her for hunting at the midnight, but the adult puppy lingered for a short time because it was in doubt in the lioness satisfaction, and perhaps the lions didn’t agree on the dogs visiting, saying secretly:
"The dogs are dogs and the lions are lions."
What can decide then? If the puppy stays with the lioness, no longer will the lioness kill it.
If it returns to the dogs, the dogs will chase it after they dismissed it.
The puppy finds that it is unable to find an answer to all these questions.
The puppy imagines that it is a lion, but when the puppy looks to its tail and to its body soon remembers that it is still a dog.
After a short time of hunting when the lioness found herself alone, she decided to return home because she felt that she was upset about the puppy.
When the lioness reached her home she saw the family of the puppy sitting close to her adopted son, therefore and for the sake of the puppy in rewarding it about its services to her when she was ill, soon she prepared a large banquet to her quests.
From this time the dogs and the lions became friends, they abandoned their long ago enmity while living together in the same forest.
