Going through the rain and thinking a car
Has to have a driver. I felt I was seeing
Something strange. I swear to all the Gods
By the singer celebrated there was no driver.

Hamlet has a ghost. The play begins with
A ghost. The hero's dad. The hero's dad
Is looking for something. In some celebrated
States the whole whirling scene is rotten.

I wouldn't mind fielding a ghost. England
Has to win the cup. The startling striker breaks
Through to the box. This is a star with bright
Blue eyes. He scores. Christ. This is a ghost.

I'd like to eat my chips seeing Jesus Christ
High on the cross. You'd say I have the face
Of a ghost. I had seen one of the biggest
Things this world has seen. Christ such a legend.

Some writers haunt. Ernest Hemingway was
Just too good. The people are haunted. Old Ben
Is trying to put his novel together. He currently
Likes the book by Neil Young. He owns a guitar.

You buy a book of ghosts. You go into the shop.
You select a book of ghosts. You take the book
Back to your special small flat. Before leaving
The shop you pay for your book. A stiff wallet

Held the money Willie handed over. You have
The book on a table your small special flat holds.
You wait. Darkness comes. Your eyes are closed.
A ghost comes speaking German. Midnight has

Arrived. The next time I'm driving my Brun Escort
Through the rain near where the day helps the man
Take money from people purchasing sweets and tulips,
In cups of night I'll a ghostly driver photograph.

Something missing from the last line, such as a verb folowing "I'll"?

This one is teeming with allusions and "tropes," but as in a couple of your earlier efforts, the lines are (still) structured like prose: simple, declarative sentences rather than poetic "lines."
