Your dainty flower
potted in fertile soil
transformed by mercurial chalice;
translucent mirror in the light of day,
a swank, alluring shroud in the dark night,
sitting on a ledge of insecurity
innocently courting a suitor

Knowing that a heavy touch
would jar your fragile psyche,
and send you careening over
the edge onto the rocky ground,
in the guise of a light, assuring
spore, settles in your shadow.

He wraps himself in your, dewy cloak
fertilizes his feet 'neath your
searching roots, disguising his
true intentions, quickly grows
in your nutrient-rich mound,
absorbing your fawning rays
drinking in your lathered kisses

His tassle tenderly fondles your stalk,
then sows the progeny of his greed-
a crop of leaching offspring, strangling
your roots, occupying your growing space.
You wilt in your tender prime;
your unstable stalk wavers, shedding
petals, burdened heart falters from
the pressures that are closing in,
your beautiful color fades, you
stagnate, becoming a hollow shell-
a shroud surrounded by clammering
weeds, once a charming entourage,
now cumbersome baggage.

I actually enjoyed the theme of the poem but you used words that I did not understand. Very provocative either way.

A nasty tale lacking empathy for the flower. Almost a Halloween story- maybe the flower just needed more golden rays.
