My life is scythed and winnowed
but there are plenty of grass seeds
caught in the carpet.
My mind wanders through imaginary fields.

sucking it all in just gets too hard.
Perhaps if I water the shag pile instead
I might discover those greener pastures.

I like the philosophical quandary that you have posed. I will join you in the greener pastures, my friend.

Funny the last few days I am thinking of a poem about vacuuming, our stars must have aligned… Yours certainly beats anything that comes into my head, but it does convince me that it's a worthy subject lol.
You have two strong metaphors going here. They seem to fight for attention but you handled them competently like you always do. I like what got sucked in. Just be careful emptying out the bag...

Positive proof that a poem can be about any topic, even one as prosaic as a vacuum cleaner. There clearly is no vacuum in your brain, Delta.

I pronounce you Delta, Queen of metaphors. Hold on I think I may have done that previously.
Amazing how you are able combine the hoover, random memories and seeds of your past that could be nurtured and grown in the shagpile and still come up with something that makes perfect sense. But you are.
