"Resemblence"

I guess translated works will do?

'The Unconsoled' - Kazuo Ishiguro (he's an english citizen:)
'Metropole' - Ferenc Karinthy
'Journey by Moonlight' - Antal Szerb (haven't read it yet)

short stories
'Memories of the future' by Sigizmund Krzhizhanovsky
'Bloodchild' - Octavia E Butler (american)
'The Dark Domain' - Stefan Gabrinski
'The Miniature Wife and Other Stories' - Manuel Gonzales (more humorous than nightmarish. The absurd element is strong, though.) (american?)

If you are looking for an American writer whose work resembles or reminds you of Kafka, I'd suggest reading Nathaniel West, especially his story, The Dream Life of Balso Snell.
