Soap Bubbles

Sometimes I think,

Our love-affair was inflated as easily as children’s soap bubbles and just as immature,

Buoyed upward by sensuous adventures, promises, soft whispered words,

We soared.

Drifting on gusts of Great Expectations like Pip, and like poor Oliver begging for more,

And in the end our erotic affair as easily burst,

Staining the tapestry of our lives with residues of sorrow.

Steven,
As the reader, I can sense the level of "emotion" or sorrow. I think this little analogy beautifully helps the reader to conceptualize the dimensions of the affair. Enjoyed!

When l'affaire ends in marriage for a woman, the result also involves soap bubbles -- in the kitchen sink, the washing machine, etc. So much for women's lib, aye?
