is there such a thing?
are we better off writing when we are 18 and not 65?

age they say is wisdom but it is also naivety innocence and above all maturity. immature is a word invented to belittle children as if though they were irresponsible and without any opinions.
I personally feel that childhood has more to say then adulthood for obvious reasons.
should youngster be encouraged to start writing as early as possible and show off the adults how it should be done.

what say you?

Depends on the focus of the writing. You can have a child (pre-adolescent) write more important things on some subjects (eg mathematics) than an adult who is a mathematician, if the child is a genius and/or loves math.
On the other hand you cannot expect the child to write something "good" about things the child has not experienced, such as sexual relationships. Also it seems pretty much logical to assume that the child will have less background to constrast its views with his/her past views, and so less ability than a theoretical adult version of that child to come into better conclusions.

So yeah, a genius-child can indeed write better in some areas, and a genius adolescent can write potentially better than anyone else. But provided that adolescent becomes an adult and is even more of a genius (ie has not collapsed mentally) then he/she probably will be able to write even better than before.

well writing in general. literature stories poetries anything that is nothing to do with routine. maths is routine.

that is the point. I want the child to write about their own perception of life surrounding experiences that an adult has missed out on. a child is perfectly capable of stringing two sentences together better communication comes to them naturally then that of an adult. preconceived ideas and all that. a child has he is naturally inept ,in the best possible way, and therefore better at putting it how it is no judgement called.the flow of the thought is au fait du jour if you like.

about genuises I think you will find that writing is second nature to all and to a child it is part of his or her progression in communicative abilities. one is to write not to conclude but to say it how it is.
the view of a child has more flair because it involves no adult telling what to do and takes no time to say it. their imagination is boundless and without the burden of everyday adult misery.

In that sense, almost all children "write", by making plots for their games. I still remember some of the plots i was forming with my lego/playmobil/other plastic games when i was in early elementary school. However i still am of the view that- in theory- i now can observe those plots, no matter their degree of complexity, as special cases of a larger complexity which i now am conscious of- whereas at the time could only sense it as existent.
