Paul Klee was a Swiss painter who created in the first half of the 20th century. He is mostly associated with his particularly polytonic (many variations of similar tones of colors) and ominous yet reminding one of chid-like drawing forms and style.

Some paintings of his that i am really impressed by:

With the Eagle

Landscape with Yellow birds

The great sea-battle

Notice in the first painting the two (three) human figures on the west and east bottom parts. The two on the eastern edge appear to be the same figure, once alive, the other blackened as if a doppelganger or some other sort of double or negative symbol :)
