he read a page then another. eventually he fell asleep.
he agitated in his dream he could almost
repeat his book inside out up to where he had stopped.
he woke happy the night was over.
his mare had gone. he checked his book, the title read:
'not before bedtime'
the page flashed number 66. he rubbed his eyes ruffled his hair then smiled.
''that sixty six it sure churns up. warning perhaps? ''
call it superstitious
but he ought to have known better.
''must check up next time!'' he said.
