The sound you hear in your sleep is silence,
The peace in your heart when you look at Stars is silence,
The distraction that disturbs the music is silence,
The song that you listen to when you depart this world is silence. Eternal Silence!

Enjoyed your poem. It brought me to sadness.

My mind has a disposition towards choirs. I sing in a choir. I often have hymns in my mind where rock music once did abide. I had a dream, nearly six years ago, that gave way to modest poetry which I composed (or rather copied down) for piano. Trying to capture the angelic verse I "heard" I rendered:

The Sabbath Day Is Here
The Sabbath Day is here !
The Sabbath Day is here !
I'm grateful for the Sabbath Day
The Sabbath Day i-is here

10/21/2007

While I captured the spirit of what I "heard" I could never capture the Angelic voice - though I can remember it as plain as day. This is one of the gifts of the Spirit that I cherish and endeavor to cultivate. The songs I would hope to hear when I depart are Pachabel's Canon in D major (violin and bass) and "Let the Holy Spirit Guide".

Ta ! (short for tarradiddle),

Thank you for the response. And yes this poem brings sadness because it was sadness itself that brought this to me.
And, about the disposition for sadness you mentioned, I remember reading a piece in a newspaper's literary section where in the author wrote that grief (sadness) is a stronger emotion than happiness because it prevails with in our minds more than happiness usually does. And when i retrospected it felt so true. Happiness or laughter we remember only for some time but sadness sticks with us unless we exercise to move away from it, whereas happiness doesn't require any such try, because it dissolves itself.
