Hi all,

I read C&P last year and I am now just about done with The Idiot. It seems like a fairly easy read in terms of plot, but I know there's probably a lot that went over my head. Anyone want to talk to discuss the overarching themes in that book sometime soon? :)

I was wondering where to go next. I was thinking about the Brothers Karamazov - thoughts?

EDIT: Maybe the Notes from the Underground? It looks short enough that I can finish it before school starts.

Out of curiosity, why are you so interested in Russian literature? What is it about that particular type of literature that amuses you?

I pretty much loved everything of his I have read thus far, but following C&P my next close favorites are Brothers Karamazov or Notes From Underground. While you cannot go wrong reading anything of Dostovesky, I would strongly recommend selecting either of those two next.

Read TBK when you have enough time; don't do that in a hurry.

If you want to read something shorter there are a lot of choices, like "Notes", "The House of the Dead" and "The Eternal Husband". His last two short stories are also great: "A Gentle Creature" and "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man".

The first book I read by him was "The Village of S.", in which I liked the character of Foma Fomich.
