what is/was the happiest moment/day of your life?

The day I won $130,000.

Didn't even bother going to bed - far too charged up. We had the second-best day the day after; we went around looking for donation boxes to fill up.

It would be hard to choose from several occasions in the past year, all I know for sure is that the last 365 days have been the happiest days of my life.

If I had to pick, probably an evening I spent with my five closest friends. Nothing special happened, but it was a reunion of sorts.

$130,000. what is that in pounds?
It is very charitable of you to go around filling up donation boxes :)

We weren't doing anything significant, we were just chilling.

The day I tried ice cream for the first time. I found my favorite treat. :)

I wish you don’t have to wait longer for it, Hannah Arednt. :)

There are so many happy moments in my life and it’s really hard to pick one. The most recent is the birth of my nephew.

What a great thread!

I'm not sure I could pick one either.. there've been so many wonderful times of my life.. I know it may sound a bit corny, but I really try to make every day as great as possible..

Not sure I can name a happiest day... but there have been lots of happy days in my life, so that's alright.

The hay was in, the sheep were safely grazing, the cattle were lazily ruminating, so we decided to go for a paddle in the river. We had 4 children under 6 years old and my Mum and Dad in the party. A family outing seemed to require about three tons of essential luggage per child in those days, so I hitched up the trailer to the tractor and together with towels, blankets, dogs, food, drink, nappies, buckets, spades, change of clothes, etc, etc, everyone piled on and off we went down the narrow track to the stream at the bottom of our valley.

It was a good day. I don't have many clear memories of it, the odd family outing tableau, some funny antics from the kids, the warmth of the sun, the music of the river, (excuse the cliche) the shouts of glee, but I remember very clearly how happiness welled up inside me, I felt - sort of completely fulfilled. I remember thinking - I could happily die right now, at this precise moment. It wasn't a morbid thought at all and I don't know where it came from, (Too much Virginia Woolf I think,) but it was a good day that.

I don't think that's morbid. I think that's beautiful.

I enjoyed all of it until it hit the
'I remember thinking - I could happily die right now, at this precise moment.'
I felt it the opposite effect of living. if you were having so much fun why think that?

I'm not sure why. The more I try to analyse, the further away it goes. I wasn't morbid or anything. perhaps a bit selfish, but it was an unbidden thought.

Another candidate for my happiest day: Went hiking/camping for three days with friends recently. At night it was beautiful; stars out, moon bright enough to cast a shadow, and we could hear an owl calling in the distance.

I was very happy the day I decided I would allow myself to commit suicide. That was a while ago and of course I ended up getting help instead. But I remember I felt quite liberated at the time. I can't remember any others.

Meeting my only brother in Helsinki after two and a half years.
Also it was a great feeling to meet Anna and Tal, both of whom despite having known for such a long time I would never have expected to meet in real.

wow! that is so very generous of you :)

As for the happiest day in my life, it would have to be the day my parents got me a puppy, a golden retriever. She's so sweet and easy to train. Love her to bits!
