The story/poem/essay begins by describing how two kinds of people would exist in the world if humans were immortal. Basically, you would have those that do and those that will do. The do-ers would work hard every day while the will do-ers would take it easy and plan to do things later.
It then goes on to describe how knowledge would never get passed down from generation to generation because there would be no reason to do so. Families would become large and the heads would know everything while the younger people would always have to rely on the elders.
It ends with the idea that people would eventually throw themselves off of cliffs to kill themselves because they could not stand living forever.
I think i read this in school at some point. It was years ago... I don't remember if it was a short story, an essay or a poem. Any help would be appreciated.
