The Light Of Somewhere New

And looking back at eventide
Into the light of day,
No mortal shadow falls on me
No echoes bid me stay.

No other hand is offered me.
No prayer for me is prayed.
No word of peace is spoken and
No ticking minute stayed.

And lingering a moment to
Remember some sweet thought.
A dream, A touch, An image of
Your face is all I've got.

The candle glows so brightly and
Then flickers out and dies,
And like the failing wick life fades
And breaks all mortal ties.

No trumpet played no chorus praised
My virgin footsteps here.
No gentle soul to guide me or
Alleviate my fear.

A waning glow of mortal light
Cast shadows 'round my feet,
Along the path I now must walk,
My passing is complete.

Alone and naked as a child
Reborn to somewhere new.
And as the pall of death departs
"Somewhere" comes into view.

As though some spark of life was left
To shine before my feet
It lit the path before me now,
My dying was complete

Alas! I cried I know this place
Somewhere is nothing new
It's all the dreams I ever dreamed
Of living life with you

Somewhere is something long ago
I'd seen in someone's eyes.
A wish, a prayer, an image of
A dream beyond the skies.

The memory of our last good bye
And dreams of me and you.
Tonight becomes my guiding light.
The light of somewhere new.
