No real criticisms. Just comparisons to other stories long forgotten. Sad.

Well, not a joke. Some of these people might think they are joking but for the most part they take their BS very seriously. Sad? I think so.

How do you expect to further yourself with that kind of thinking? I don't get it. Oh, well, can't waste time thinking about it I guess. It seems more like a fan ranting forum than an actual story sharing forum. lol

Well, however correct you might be in the sense you are speaking, you have to accept that there is a lot more going on here than just one forum. There are many forums. When you say this forum you are assuming a lot and encapsulating LitNet in what it is not.

I understand you, ralph, and I agree. The aim of literature cannot be the same as 100 years ago and it shouldn't be validated on the basis of the old literature principles. After invention of film. TV and internet literature has become just one among other ways of communcation between an artist and big number of people as its general public and not the only one, as it used to be before these inventions.

OK... Who gave Ralph's stories poor reviews and failed to salute him as the next Tolstoy??? Or at least Steinbeck???

How many times do I need to remind you guys to be nice to the new comers????? :Frown:

A bit harsh, perhaps?

If you choose to critique someone's story in terms of its plot, surely that must involve a comparison with other works that have gone before? The extent to which work is derivative (and, of course, all work is at least a little derivative) does need to be addressed.

a joke? I thought writing was a joke one has to take very seriously.
how is writing anything but that? to write is a way of passing time. surely that is the idea because there is no other way of describing it.

Ralph can I just say that it is what you bring to the table that will count. I wouldn't concern yourself too much with other members on Lit-Net so much as focus on what you have to contribute to the forum. I post the odd poem and story and the odd critique. I don't want to feel under pressure by any other member that a) I have to meet a certain quality and b) I have to meet a certain quota.

I need to remind myself that we are a diverse group of people with different needs. Personally I have found those needs are also subject to change.

Please make yourself most welcome, take some flak from those with their heads up their arse and bring your own thumbprint to the forum!

This forum is a hundred times better than absolute write. Many posters there are insane.

I've been gone for like two years, plus I only have like 115 comments so probably nobody remembers me, but, is wolflarsen still here? That guy was hilarious.

What about Doc Heart and his little red book.
That was another character.

DocFart was amazing. He is disappeared, probably doing old greek guy things, like fornicating with much, much younger women while simultaneously (yes, simultaneously) sipping fine scotch. Dude was a beast.

WolfLarsen is presently filming a sequel to The Hunger Games and awaiting a Cheers reunion. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000437/

Well the first thing that came to mind...was a little ADULT... for many of our intrepid younger readers.

Well, he was last here in July, so he hasn't been gone too long. Hopefully he'll come back soon.

Can't tell if I'm having a good time when I've got my eyes shut and I'm thinking of England.
