I'm having 2 hardboiled eggs, toast if I have any bread, and mango.

The mango sounds yum, papaya. I'm having green tea, organic granola and kefir, which I have only recently discovered and loved. Kefir, kefir, kefir! So tangy and delicious. It tastes like the cottage cheese I loved as a child, only liquid.

Cheerios or porridge with skimmed milk for me.

Though today had homemade pancakes with honey :D

Today I had two pancakes made of Amaranth, Oats, pecan meal, some carob and two tablespoons of honey. A cup of coffee (240 mg caffeine) with one teaspoon of raw sugar and some half & half. Careful with the coffee. 240 mg is a healthy diuretic. More than that per day might not be healthy.

Ummm, all those homemade pancakes! I love blueberry pancakes, served with a side of peppered bacon, but I haven't made that in a while. Another favorite that I've eaten several times this summer is toast with a bit of mayo, topped with ripe avocado and a dash of salt and pepper. It's fine alone, but quite extraordinary with scrambled eggs.

I'm a porridge man - the best start to the day. As for what goes into the porridge, that depends: a pinch of sugar if I'm feeling normal, a dollop of jam if I've got some in that needs using up, a dash of maple syrup if I'm feeling extravagant, and large wodge of golden syrup if I just can't face the world.

That is what I do and have it straight... No fancy syrups! :P

Though, right now I am quite tempted to finish off the leftover Apple Strudel from yesterday's guests!

We should also have a "what would you like for breakfast?" thread :D

No no, porridge in the pan. But I do like to sweeten it slightly - I don't do the traditional highland thing of putting salt in it.

What would I like to have for breakfast? Well, call me a crazy old hedonist but I'd have... porridge. Yup, I'm quite boring that way.

I always put salt on my porridge! No Sugar! On the stove but I am always planning a healthy diet with goji berries and some grains in it, but that only seems to last a few days. Usually I only drink coffee in the morning but I am trying to get used to eating breakfast.

a large wodge of golden syrup...omg, sounds just the thing when you can't face the world!

This morning I had the aforesaid avocado on toast. You know, I've never had porridge. We eat oatmeal here in the states. My mom would make a big pot of it in the winter, cooked with raisins and topped with brown sugar. It hit the spot on a cold winter's morning.

I like hard bread with olive oil, various fruits (especially cherries, peaches, and orange slices), and I'm a porridge fan as well. I drink Earl Gray with lots of milk and a little sugar, and a big glass of ice water.

I eat three times per day in diminishing amounts. My biggest meal is breakfast. Here is a recipe I prepared today.
You'll need
Shredded lettuce, fire roasted red bell peppers, olive oil, dry oregano, sea salt, black pepper, all purpose flour, corn meal

In a bowl, mix two heaping tablespoons of all purpose flower, three heaping tablespoons of corn meal and two tablespoons of olive oil. Add water very slowly (do not make it runny. Keep it just moist or it wouldn't work). Bring a small pot of water with a heaping teaspoon of sea salt to a boil. Bring the heat to medium high.
Make little 3/4 inch balls with the flower mixture. Put them in the pot of simmering water and cook for 5 minutes. Meantime preheat oven to 350 F. Oil the bottom and sides of a 6 inch pizza pan. When the flower balls are cooked, drain them well and put them in the pizza pan. (you can simulate a pan with aluminum foil if you don't have one)
Put the pizza pan in the oven for the flower balls to roast. But do not let them roast to dark. As soon as you see them beginning to change color with a few roasted spots, get them out of the oven. These balls will then be croutons.
As soon as you get the croutons out of the oven, sprinkle them with some powdered garlic, sea salt and black pepper. Careful with the sea salt. You do not want then too salty.
In a bowl, make a bed of shredded lettuce, and two fire roasted peppers diced to 1/2 inch cubes. Add some dry oregano, black pepper, and sea salt. Again be careful with the sea salt, not because of the sodium but because if it is salty it tastes bad. Of course if you cannot eat sodium be even more careful. Add two tablespoons of olive oil and mix well. You can divide the croutons in half and have two meals like this one. If you are young and do a lot of exercise, you can eat the whole thing. If you have more people, double the recipe if necessary.
You can refrigerate the croutons for a few days. If you do so, put them in the microwave for 30 seconds to bring them to room temperature.

Voila! Enjoy a vegan tasty meal.

Make a great Caesar salad. This will beat most restaurants.

Mix one heaping tablespoon of light mayo, made with some oil like safflower, and one tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Mix well. Mix in two tablespoons of olive oil. Add some granulated garlic and two tablespoons of balsamic vinegar. Mix well.
Pour over a bed of romaine lettuce. Use only the green part, shredded to half inch bites. Pour the oil mixture over it and coat well. Voila.

I thought I mention a special rice pilaf. It is a mix of long grain rice and wild rice. This pilaf is produced by a company that goes by the name of Near East. It comes in boxes with spices that are probably their own version of ras el hanout. You can get 12 boxes of this pilaf for around $27 at Amazon with free supersaving shipping. I usually add two heaping tablespoons of wild rice. I put the box in a container with the spices and two cups of water. Mix well. Let it soak for about 8 hours. The water will be absorbed. Top it with 3/4 cup of water and cook in pyrex, in microwave on high for about 15 minutes, uncovered. Let it rest for 10 minutes. Fluff with fork. Delicious and very healthy vegan dish.

Yes I thought the title was some sort of ironic take on world hunger, never mind.

Breakfast? I don't have time for breakfast with working and being forced to get up at slave hours. One of the very last things I want to do after forcing myself out of bed, shave and change is to shove food in my mouth!! At least having the motor gives me an extra 10 minutes in bed.

At the weekends when life is more civilized, yes, I have breakfast, in the week no I don't. Instead I tend to run on the fumes of the previous night's lager/beer and the odd half a banana I can shove down at break. The harsh reality of life. I can sometimes stomach half a cup of tea or coffee. Today I managed a 1/3 a cup of green tea and my usual half a banana.

I discovered a product that's made by an Italian place in New Jersey. It's called Paisano Mio, meaning My Countryman. It's a very well-made parmesan imitation with a lot less calories, and it has a very strong parmesan taste, so you don't need much to give flavor to a lot of dishes. Try it. Have fun.

Before becoming a man of leisure, I usually had just ten minutes for some toast and tea, but it was enough because all appetite fades at the prospect of entering the insanity of London's rush hour. This loathing of the mob was extended to the lunch hour when I would stay in the office and grab a sandwich and a cup of coffee from the canteen rather than go out onto the street where the multitude were either dogging my heels or under my feet.
However, old habits die hard and I often get by on tea and toast for breakfast with a piece of grilled fish about twice a week. Right now it's almost 11.00 a.m. and I'm just picking at some Japanese rice crackers with a cup of tea.

I'm bulimic

I had a friend who was bulimic. I never knew she was until she told me. I was shocked because I was not aware bulimia existed. it made me cross because had I known about it earlier I would have spotted it. she told me and I was truly sorry for her. she did have psychological issues which led to bulimia. it did not just happen.
I am guessing the same applies to you. bulimia is a way of numbing the pain ie forgetting.
