Anyone read some of his work?
I recently saw the movie "Spider", with Ralph Fiennes in the eponymous role, which i really loved.
However it seems the movie (the screenplay for which was created by McGrath himself) is very different from the book in a number of key ways...
I tried reading the book but have to confess i gave up due to some distasteful language in it, which in my view did not really fit the tone of the work- the tone i personally had in mind, i accept that McGrath just expressed himself as he wished to.
I also read a short story by him. It seemed quite interesting, it had some very impressive images, but the last paragraph (which was the revelation of the plot of the story) simply destroyed it all in my view... It had to do with Freud and some other psychologists, the plot was clever up to that point but the final revelation was a total anticlimax and a bad idea by itself.
Still i would be interested in reading if any of you have liked his work, and if you can suggest some other short story of his :) I did like his phrase "thanatoptic nerve" a lot, from that story i read.
