Stopping By The Ancestral Graveyard

Assuring myself of being a Muslim
on one Friday
I entered the mosque
to say my prayers

Though knelt and bowed before God
I couldn't stop to think
Sinner i am and a ribald
if God could give me any award

Like a black sleep
Amongst the hundreds of white sheep
i bleated differently
Thought myself an odd

The devotees hummed in the same tune
And showed their unity of faith
raised the head to see
whether i was alone or with them

came out from the mosque
the devotees gathered near the graveyard
raised their hands to pray
for the dead in graves

I too stopped but couldn't pray
though it was Friday
the only day on which i pray
and do sin everyday

Thought, what can i pray for them?
Myself i am burning in the hell
gazed at the graves wished i
if they could pray for me
