I found something in you.

It’s called everything.

And when your everything failed me, I felt

like I’d failed myself.

I felt like I’d lost everything -

but I realize now that I’d only lost you.

And that wasn’t nearly as much

as losing it all.

Well, you did fail yourself in thinking he was everything. I'm glad you realized that was impossible.

Cafolini - Thank you for the words of comfort but I haven't experienced something like this. I draw a lot of my inspiration just from random thoughts and/or observations of my acquaintances' downfalls.

I don't think this is one of your best. I'm sorry I haven't posted on your other work but I do love your fresh passionate approach to poetry. You're a natural girl and keep writing!

Regardless, my answer is the same, and thanks for clarifying your position. Good stuff.

To be honest I don't take kindly to an assessment that gives an analysis of the poet themselves. To me that isn't what poetry is about. I'm not looking at you Mystery Girl as if I was some sort of psych, only the work you produce. My advice to you is to keep that in mind because it is easy to find yourself justifying your work to others who question its validity. xx

That is a very interesting theory, Delta. I haven't heard anything be put like this, with words like this. It's got my brain scrambled and I'm questioning a lot of the work I've done recently. Most of the time my work has been based off of observations or a song that I'm listening to at the time, or how those grungy classic rock artists make me feel on the inside and probably look like a love-drunk fool on the outside. I find such inspiration in their style and in particular, Nirvana has been a huge inspiration to me as well as Alice in Chains.

So, I've tried distancing myself from a lot of my work, but somehow my personal mental instabilities (depression and anxiety) have sneaked it's way in a couple of times.

I don't know why I just wrote all of this, but yes. Thank you for your compliments and comments. They've meant a great deal to me. More than you know.

lol. You can question and analyse your work all you want! No matter where your inspiration comes from, it's inappropriate for readers to link the content with the poet and post conclusions. Rather, they should study the form of the piece and how it affects them.
