Lovers in the Night

I found you in the darkness
you were alone
within a fog,
but I reached out for you,
the mist drew me in,
and together we stood,
apart from the world.

Your touch
brought warmth
back into my veins,
leaving my skin flushed,
my lips take hold of yours
and breathes life
back into your heart.

I have crept around
the edge of shadows
for so long,
but you refuse to
keep your distance,
and wherever I turn around
I see your face.

You will not be daunted
by the darkness,
you harvest secrets like moths
which seek to devour the light.

So it is in the night
we find each other,
for long ago I have learned
it does no good to try and run.

For so long we passed
like phantoms through life,
but when you embrace me
I feel myself becoming
flesh and bone once more.
