What is the difference between civilization and literature? How they are related?
When writing an essay in both subjects, which style to use? I am confused between academic and literary style?

Are you serious? Or is it: Are yu seriously? No. Okay. Here's the best way to put it; The difference between civilization and literature is (assuming an auto that could build itself? ... No forget that; complicates it too much) the same as the difference between an automobile's drive carriage (engine, transmission, wheels) and an automobile's computer module. The real question is: Which is which?

Civilisation: strictly speaking, the manner of living in cities.

Literature: the written art fom of a civilisation.


Always use academic style when writing essays intended for academic purposes, even if the essay is about literature.
If your essay is intended to be a work of literature, then write it however you like.


Academic style would be factual, written with shorter sentences, minimal use of literary devices (like metaphor), formally paragraphed & backed up with copious references.

Literary: "I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o'er dales and hills when ..."
Academic: "Wordsworth was walking in the countryside with his sister Dorothy when ..."

The difference I asked for was in relationship to the nature of both subjects, not the nature of each...
concerning the style, I write academic essays in academic style in both subjects but it only works in civilization...

Civilisation - way of life of a society at a particular stage in history. Literature/ gastronomy/ dress/ recreation etc etc etc - elements in that civilisation
