A fresh version of the poem

The flames leap about
as if they were alive
like coiled snakes crossing swords
entwined like gladiators
locked in mortal combat

A riot of color,
like the plumage of an exotic bird
like the reddish orange of twilight,
the sun bleeding into the rich brown soil,
as if weaving a bukhara carpet,
but one that is alive,
with a delicate green

A rough delicacy
with a high fractal exponent
like the curves of a voluptuous woman
The irregular "fractal weirstrass shapes" emerging
into a whole that is vibrant, strong and powerful
and yet tender and vulnerable
Seemingly cancer like
but womb like revealing and nurturing
a rich intricate structure beneath the fractal caustics

The conflict of the modes and erosion
and the ensuing return to dust and ashes
but followed again by spring and rejuvenation
as if the resurrection and crucifixion marked the same event
The amazon warrior woman and the crucified
both participating and consumed by the same rite
but emerging rejuvenated,
mirroring the birth of matter and spirit
of life
of mathematics, literature,music,drama...
nay more than that,
of speech and faculties,
of all the arts, technologies, sciences and philosophies,
of all the sacred works,
of all the inspired works,
and of nature and
her bridge to the universe beyond her
of creation itself.

The sacred fire,
the receptacle of the juices
of incense and other sacred herbs
The jewel and diamond studded cross
The lotus covered sacred lamp
and other religious symbols
emerging out of the fire
as if forged in the baptism
The blood red wine merging with
the symbolic blood
fusion of bone, sinew, flesh, blood and spirit
creepers entwining themselves DNA like
around the skeletal structures
and life emerges phonenix like
and in a transcendental bound ,
metaphysically reaches for the stars

I liked the way you wrote this. Of course, transcendence is trigonometrical, but in the game of desperation and malice, phoenix after phoenix come about and unending.

When you talk about "game of desperation and malice", are you talking about religious / cultural wars ? I was not talking about those kind of conflicts here.

No. I was talking about what you wrote. Have fun.

There was a theme of crossed swords (with possible links to the cross) that i should have possibly made explicit

Though my poem was not intended to contain anything about "desperation and malice", your comment is a good example of how criticism itself can be poetic !!! :-)

An even fresher version

(The crucial "collapsing into a single moment" phrase was removed in the original poem. So, reincorporating it

Transcendence (A Mathematical Homage)

The flames leap about
as if they were alive
like coiled snakes crossing swords
entwined like gladiators
locked in mortal combat

A riot of color,
like the plumage of an exotic bird

of speech and faculties,
of all the arts, technologies, sciences and philosophies,
of all the sacred works,
of all the inspired works,
and of nature and
her bridge to the universe beyond her
of creation itself.
The whole eternal cycle,
collapsed into a single moment.

The sacred fire,
the receptacle of the juices
of incense and other sacred herbs
The jewel and diamond studded cross
The lotus covered sacred lamp
and other religious symbols
emerging out of the fire
as if forged in the baptism
The blood red wine merging with
the symbolic blood

creepers entwining themselves DNA like
