Aphorism #115 Get used to the Failings of your Familiars,

as you do to ugly faces. It is indispensable if they depend on us, or we on them. Thereare wretched characters with whom one cannot live, nor yet without them. Therefore clever folk get used to them, as to ugly faces, so that they are not obliged to do so suddenly under the pressure of necessity. At first they arouse disgust, but gradually they lose this influence, and reflection provides for disgust or puts up with it. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/ArtOfWorldlyWisdom?d=yIl2AUoC8zA (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/ArtOfWorldlyWisdom?a=BTj8b0MbCsg:I3Wp1W1SRnU:yIl2A UoC8zA) http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/ArtOfWorldlyWisdom?d=qj6IDK7rITs (http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/ArtOfWorldlyWisdom?a=BTj8b0MbCsg:I3Wp1W1SRnU:qj6ID K7rITs)

This wisdom is in preparation for the famous BS that you can choose friends but not relatives. It is Balthasar's adult judgment operating here. Unfortunately children must suffer their lot in this regard until they are capable of choosing. This is one of the genuinely sad episodes of life. How do you deal with ugliness of some familiar who's mentally ill?
