It was a beautiful spring day. The scent of flowers and the pleasant breeze tempted me to go for a walk. I walked out of my home and started to walk on foot with a very slow pace. No one but solitude was my company. One can enjoy the beauty of nature only in solitude and I was blessed with that. I went towards the orchards. While walking I saw the greenery all around. The green grass was looking like the green carpet. The paddy fields were full of water and some peasants were tilling their land with oxen. They were preparing their land for the cultivation of sapling. They were expecting a bumper crop this year because there was a heavy snowfall in the winter. They were jolly while tilling their fields and were enjoying the warm water. But whatever they were doing I enjoyed that while walking towards unknown destination. I thought to rest for a while on the bank of the Badshash stream. I sat on its bank under the cool and lovely shade of a willow tree. The water was running very fast and it was producing a very sweet sound. I leaned against the willow tree and watched God’s grandeur. The calmness and quietness of the beautiful spot allowed enjoying the beauty of nature. Though the peasants who were tilling their land were sometimes passing some strange comments to their oxen but that added more beauty. There were number of willow trees on the green bank of Badshah stream. The gentle breeze was waving their soft branches. The long oval green leaves were looking beautiful on the trees. Over the water some leaves were floating. The birds were singing at their best. Dove’s ‘’goo goo gooo’’ took me into a dreamland.
There was an old man on the beautiful bank. He was some yards away from me. He had a short white beard on his face. His belly was very big like that of a pregnant woman carrying twins. He was gazing at the pure water. He had come with the fishing rod and was fishing. The old man was very fond of fishes. It is said he has sold half of his property for tasting the fish. He remained total idle in his life and managed his livelihood by selling his land.
But this time he was not idle. He wanted to eat the bread of his own labor. Everyone was busy there; the peasants were tilling, the old man was fishing and I was musing. I totally ignored the old man’s presence who was sitting only a few yards away from me. I was all alone, just listening the melodious songs of birds, sweet sound of water and croaking of frogs.
Suddenly I heard a thud sound. It seemed that something heavy fell into the water. I was perturbed and was looking for the old man. But to my surprise he was not there. Perhaps he had gone. The peasants came out of their land and rushed towards the stream and one of them jumped into the stream. I stood up and ran towards them. ‘’What is the matter Kaka?’’ I said to a peasant. ‘’Amm kakh has drowned, Kaka replied. ‘’But how?’’ I again said to him. ‘’He might have seen fishes, could not have controlled himself and has dived into the water in order to catch them’’, Kaka laughed.
Kaka also dived into the water in order to assist the peasant who had already dived into the water to save Amm kakh. The stream was full of water and it was a very herculean task for the peasants to fish him out of the water. Amm kakh’s heaviness was another problem for them. But they showed heroism and fished him out and Amm kakh was saved. I did not move and was looking at the survivors of Amm kakh. They rebuked Amm kakh for being so selfish and greedy. Amm kakh gave a vague smile. Without thanking them he resumed his job.
I wondered that how some people put their lives at stake for stuffing their belly. Looking at Amm kak’s belly I figured that how much fish there might be in his belly. He might have eaten tons of fish in his life but he is still hungry!

This needs quite a bit of editing. A good editor can probably cut more than 1/4 of the word count. Thank God it was short. I would have to agree with you on one point. Greed is not necessarily a matter of money. Gluttony can also be a form of greed and there are many others.
