It was a beautiful spring day. The scent of flowers and the pleasant breeze tempted me to go for a walk. I walked out of my home and started to walk on foot with a very slow pace. No one but solitude was my company. One can enjoy the beauty of nature only in solitude and I was blessed with that. I went towards the orchards. While walking I saw the greenery all around. The green grass was looking like the green carpet. The paddy fields were full of water and some peasants were tilling their land with oxen. They were preparing their land for the cultivation of sapling. They were expecting a bumper crop this year because there was a heavy snowfall in the winter. They were jolly while tilling their fields and were enjoying the warm water. But whatever they were doing I enjoyed that while walking towards unknown destination. I thought to rest for a while on the bank of the Badshash stream. I sat on its bank under the cool and lovely shade of a willow tree. The water was running very fast and it was producing a very sweet sound. I leaned against the willow tree and watched God’s grandeur. The calmness and quietness of the beautiful spot allowed enjoying the beauty of nature. Though the peasants who were tilling their land were sometimes passing some strange comments to their oxen but that added more beauty. There were number of willow trees on the green bank of Badshah stream. The gentle breeze was waving their soft branches. The long oval green leaves were looking beautiful on the trees. Over the water some leaves were floating. The birds were singing at their best. Dove’s ‘’goo goo gooo’’ took me into a dreamland.
There was an old man on the beautiful bank. He was some yards away from me. He had a short white beard on his face. His belly was very big like that of a pregnant woman carrying twins. He was gazing at the pure water. He had come with the fishing rod and was fishing. The old man was very fond of fishes. It is said he has sold half of his property for tasting the fish. He remained total idle in his life and managed his livelihood by selling his land.
But this time he was not idle. He wanted to eat the bread of his own labor. Everyone was busy there; the peasants were tilling, the old man was fishing and I was musing. I totally ignored the old man’s presence who was sitting only a few yards away from me. I was all alone, just listening the melodious songs of birds, sweet sound of water and croaking of frogs.
Suddenly I heard a thud sound. It seemed that something heavy fell into the water. I was perturbed and was looking for the old man. But to my surprise he was not there. Perhaps he had gone. The peasants came out of their land and rushed towards the stream and one of them jumped into the stream. I stood up and ran towards them. ‘’What is the matter Kaka?’’ I said to a peasant. ‘’Amm kakh has drowned, Kaka replied. ‘’But how?’’ I again said to him. ‘’He might have seen fishes, could not have controlled himself and has dived into the water in order to catch them’’, Kaka laughed.
Kaka also dived into the water in order to assist the peasant who had already dived into the water to save Amm kakh. The stream was full of water and it was a very herculean task for the peasants to fish him out of the water. Amm kakh’s heaviness was another problem for them. But they showed heroism and fished him out and Amm kakh was saved. I did not move and was looking at the survivors of Amm kakh. They rebuked Amm kakh for being so selfish and greedy. Amm kakh gave a vague smile. Without thanking them he resumed his job.
I wondered that how some people put their lives at stake for stuffing their belly. Looking at Amm kak’s belly I figured that how much fish there might be in his belly. He might have eaten tons of fish in his life but he is still hungry!

I stopped to rest for a while on the bank of the Badshash stream. I sat under the cool and lovely shade of a willow. The water was running very fast and it was making a very gentle sound. I leaned against the willow and watched God’s grandeur. The calmness and quietness of the beautiful spot allowed in the beauty of nature. The peasants were sometimes passing some strange comments to their oxen, but that was an enhancement. There were a number of willows on the bank. The light breeze was waving their soft branches. The long oval leaves were looking beautiful. Some were floating on the stream. The birds were singing at their best. Dove’s ‘’goo goo gooo’’ took me into what seemed a dreamland.
There was an old man on the bank, some yards away. He had a short white beard. His belly was as big as that of a pregnant woman carrying twins. He was gazing at the crystal water, fishing, very fond of fish. The peasants were rumoring that he had sold half of his property for spending his time tasting the fish. He remained idle, earning his livelihood by selling land. But at that moment, far from idle, he wanted to eat the fruit of his own labor.
We were all busy. The peasants were tilling, the old man was fishing and I was amusing myself, ignoring the old man who was now sitting only a few yards away. I was alone, just listening to the melodious songs of birds, gentle sound of water and the croaking of frogs.

‘’What is the matter Kaka?’’ I asked a peasant.
‘’Amm kakh seems to have drowned."
"How?’’
‘’He might have seen fish, could not control himself and dived into the water in order to catch them’’, Kaka laughed.
Kaka also dived into the water in order to assist the peasant who had already dived to try to save Amm kakh. The stream was full. It was an herculean task for the peasants to fish him out of the water. Amm kakh’s heaviness was the big obstacle. But they showed heroism and got him out. Amm kakh was saved.
I did not move and was looking at the lifeguards of Amm kakh. They rebuked him for being so selfish and greedy. Amm kakh gave only a vague smile.
Without thanking them he resumed his job. I wondered how some people put their lives at stake for stuffing their belly. Looking at Amm kak’s, I tried to figured out how much fish there might have been in there. He might have eaten tons in his life but he was still hungry.
