I just finished listening to the audiobook version of Booker T Washington's "Up from Slavery." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNiwuEuTA2Y)
For the most part, I found it be inspirational and thought-provoking book. Learning about Washington's rise from the depths of slavery to become one of America's most decorated educators and social activists make for compelling reading.
I wish that his ideas and legacy would get more coverage. Nowadays, it seems as if fewer people are interested in his message.
While a few parts gave me pause, overall I still think this one of our language most inspirational books.
