In another thread, Ecurb posted a few G.K. Chesterton quotes, including this one: "Poets have been mysteriously silent on the subject of cheese."

This seems easily correctable, so have at it.

Hi Calidore I thought you had posted a poem about cheese haha.
Maybe no cheese has inspired any poet to do so or maybe cheese lovers do not write about it but rather enjoy eating it instead.who knows?
are you going to post a cheese/cheesy poem? :)

Hi Calidore I thought you had posted a poem about cheese haha.

That reading of the thread title didn't occur to me; thanks for pointing it out. If a mod sees this, can you please change the thread title to "Post your poems about cheese"? Thanks!

Be careful what you ask for...

Swiss is a man's cheese
A wheel is both firm and soft
Feels good in the hands

I responded to this challenge several years ago (a tongue and cheeky approach; though not for for faint (you know who you are)):

Homage to Fromage ? ( or: To Brie or not to Brie )

For a salad delightful of the green-leafy sort
crumble in Blue Cheese, Feta, or Roquefort
or add them to a dressing thick and creamy
to your avocado, chick-peas, and tomato... mmm, dreamy !
To make a fondue... into the pot: Cheddar, Gruyère, or Swiss...
a bit of wine, and cherry liqueur; salt, pepper to taste
Use fork or tong with breads or meats... or perhaps skewer all this...
creamy, delightfully rich morsels... to add inches to the waist
Pizza, pizza ! that calls for Mozzarella !
add pepperoni, ham, olive, "shroom" in the pie crust dishy
with Parmesan or Romano sprinkled liberally on top
and I'm in Heaven, dining... ( sans fishy !!!)
To snack on an outing with wine, bread, and thee
wedges of Colby, Cheddar, Gouda, Camembert, and Brie
Or if sandwiches are want to be made ( with mayo and mustard ) instead
add Provolone, Jack, Colby, Fontina, or Muenster to your favorite bread
Queso Asadero for nachos, Cottage Cheese with fruit or alone,
cannelloni with Ricotta, Asiago with bagels for your appetite edge to hone
The list goes on... Gorgonzola, Edam, Limburger, Hazarti...
Jarlsberg and Curado... Bring them all ! Let's have a PARTY !!!

Methinks yours truly may actually have one somewhere-- The title was"Ode to a Toasted Cheese Sandwich" I dimly recall. If I find it, I'll put it in the notorious "anti-poetry" thread.

I brought a loaf of bread, a jug of wine.
You brought a book of verse?! OK, it's fine
To read a tasteful poem praising cheese,
But please don't bring your boyfriend the next time.

Cheese, crumbly holistic curd
from sheep, goat, bovine herd
pockmarked, sheathed, chunked
grated, shredded, in fondue pot shrunk
topping, dressing, hollandaise sauce
casseroles: cover, layer, emboss
in basket; with wine, seasonal fruit toss

Like the Beatles original lyrics once rang: cheese cheese me oh yeah like I cheese you...
