Reception here... Professor?

There's this girl in the lobby, says she wants someone to look at an ancient manuscript
I think you want the professor I says to her and then she says she knows you

He heard her sipping her expresso, an enchanting receptionist.

He thought "why not, I shall go and take a look. here I am staring at this ink well and feeling like suicide
Let's go and see this girl and her manuscript. hehe, she probably bought it on the internet"
He got up and grabbed his cane and strode down the staircase

He didn't recognise the young punk in front of him from his lectures, that piercing and tattoo on the back of the neck
She leaped out of the comfortable surroundings and got in his face - 'ello, are you the professor?

Was she was mocking him like he was in the priesthood? He might as well have been
He mellowed and barked out "at your service, let's take a look then.. get it out!"

He said this while leaning against a bust of Plato as she opened up her handbag, stared at her and found he was enjoying this.. treating her like one of his students even though he knew that she was pretending and the ruse had worked. If only his students showed such enthusiasm!
She paused briefly and gazed curiously at him

Then she laughed pulling it out. Bugger me, I thought, this is ancient greek!
Then we both laughed but then she stopped laughing and put on a serious face

"I'm bout it off an old guy with no shirt shouting out his wares in the market.
The sun was beating down on him and he was smiling and clapping his hands
Sitting on the bootlid, playing music of the last century...

Found it in with the books. Asked him about them and said he got from an auction of another professors stuff
All his old freaking books!
I saw this leather bound one and it was handwritten and the pages were all waxy and gold
Had to have it. I knew he'd want more than I had so I stuffed up my shirt and went straight to you"

She placed the book down and opened it and yes it was ancient greek - the greatest discovery of his life time
